Romania, in addition to a vast variety of scenic beauty and points of interest,
also offers countless castles, palaces, fortresses, and ruins, and, particularly
in Transylvania, churches turned into fortifications.
The
purpose of this website is to compile as much as possible all of these
buildings, and make them available for the enthusiasts of castles and Romania.
Since I have not yet visited many of these buildings, and will perhaps never be able to see some of these castles, I depend on the support of others to help me realize a most comprehensive compilation of castles in Romania, including the collection of descriptions of the castles, and the use of photographs.
I would appreciate it
very much if you could send me either by mail or e-mail copies of pictures of
Romanian castles taken by you, provided they are not already exhibited on this
website.
Any additional information about these pictures (such as historic data of the
castle, location/city, visiting facilities, names/descriptions of the castle in
different languages) is very much appreciated. Even pictures alone with the name
and location of the castle are welcomed.
Some data of the castles already exhibited on this website may be incomplete. I
would be grateful for any additional information about these castles that would
help complete these data.
Of
course, your name and copyright will always be attached to your pictures.
Please send any
information or comment in German, and English, or even Romanian. I do not speak
Romanian, unfortunately. However, a very kind colleague of mine would do the
translation.
Except for this foreword and some names or descriptions, the website itself will
be in German only.
